We’re just back from a memorable trip to South Korea where we played our first ever concert in the country and, indeed, our first ever gig in Asia! After a long flight, we arrived on Friday just in time to catch up with our pals, Breabach, who were stopping-off to perform on their way back from a tour of Australia and New Zealand. After their concert, we were taken en-masse to a traditional Korean seafood restaurant (sitting cross-legged on the floor and all!) where we were treated to a feast of some of the most delicious seafood any of us had ever tasted.
Well rested after a good night’s sleep, we set off for the beautiful Junggu Arts Centre to soundcheck. The theatre, crew, and equipment were absolutely first-rate – as was the lunch! Again, we were taken off to another very traditional Korean restaurant situated in an old-style Korean Hanok (house) where we sampled a whole range of curious delicacies that left us in top form going into the gig. The concert itself didn’t disappoint and our music seemed to be very well received by the mostly local audience who clapped and danced along in fine style.
All in all, this was a fantastic experience and one we hope to be able to repeat some time. Many thanks to everyone involved in taking us over to South Korea and for the brilliant hospitality shown to us.
